Project Patriot Tax

Inspired by Thomas Friedman's New York Times's column, "The Real Patriot Act," I've decided that I am going to put my money where my ideology is and assess myself a $1 tax on each gallon of gas I purchase. It starts effective Sep 1 this year (2003) and will continue through Aug 31 of next year. As the year progresses, I will make periodic contributions to organizations and movements working on behalf of informed, progressive public policy. At that end of the period, I will make a donation of what remains to whomever the Democratic candidate for president is (unless perhaps it is Joseph Lieberman.)

An idea that has crazy liberal all over it but, anyway, you're invited to do the same.
